Age of the Earth is still enigma. A major confusion stems from ambiguity in defining what is meant by Age of the Earth. The term could be assigned to any event that would characterize the time when the Earth established itself as an independent planet in the solar system. The latter includes the time when the Earth attained a size close to the present one or the completion of the core-mantle segregation. U-Pb systematics on mantle-derived materials (MORB, OIB) suggests that the latter event occurred about 80 Ma after CAI or the formation of the solar nebula. I-Pu-Xe systematics is more likely to signify the time when the Earth became a closed system with respect to Xe. The latter may be assigned to the time when the Earth reached a size comparable to the Mars or slightly smaller one.
