Lithium cobalt oxide was mainly used for cathode material of Lithium ion battery as the 1st generation battery, but it became difficult to realize higher capacity only by optimizing a cell design. So by using Lithium Nickel oxide cathode material, 2nd generation Lithium ion battery was developed in 2006. 2nd generation Lithium ion battery is high capacity, light and durable battery because nickel oxide cathode material is theoretically high capacity and stable materials under charged condition. And battery module using 2nd generation Lithium ion battery was developed, which can be applied for wide range power supply, for small mobile equipments to middle/large vehicle and stationary applications.
