bably play an important role in the future energy system, and it has been already experiencing a dramatic rise since the last few years, with more than 7 GW installed or contracted in different parts of the world. In addition to electricity, hydrogen is a very promising, sustainable and clean energy carrier for the utilisation of solar energy in non-stationary applications. Due to a high solar resource and its experience on this field, together with the attention paid to the renewable energy market by institutions and companies, Spain is nowadays one of the leading countries in solar concentrating technologies, with more than 2000 MW of CSP projects already registered in the corresponding Ministry and a large activity in research, development and deployment. In this paper, we will give an overview of the current CSP commercial projects in Spain, as well as a general look at the R&D projects on CSP and solar hydrogen in CIEMAT, the Spanish national centre for research on energy, environment and technology.
