CO_2 sequestration technologies entailing of CO_2 capture, transport and storage underground (CCS), could be an immediate potent counter measure to global warming issues. Since the CO_2 capture cost constitutes about 50% of all the CO_2 sequestration costs, it has to be reduced drastically by near-term adaptation of CO_2 sequestration. As for the capture technologies, chemical absorption, physical absorption and membrane separation are being made research actively. Of theses technologies, chemical absorption is especially promising because it can be easily and practically made for large scale CO_2 point sources. Its essential subject for practical use is to reduce energy and cost of absorbent regeneration. In this paper I will introduce the recent capture technologies and the RITE' capture research activities about chemical absorption and membrane separation.
