Various studies have discussed that short-term overseas English study programs might contribute to the improvements of some aspects of college students' English skills. This paper reports that a four-week study abroad program implemented at a US college contributed to the improvement of participants' English listening skill measured by The Secondary Level English Proficiency Test (SLEP). The statistical analysis revealed that participants' listening skill improved significantly in four weeks. The result of the significant improvement could be attributed to the characteristics of the program; the small number of participants, the appropriate levels of the ESL classes, the type of the test, and the total amount of English input to which the participants were exposed. Further analysis revealed that the lower-level participants tended to improve more in the listening skill than the high-level participants in the short-term English study abroad program. This implies that English listening skill would not improve homogeneously in short-term English study abroad programs.
