Extensive reading (ER) is a skill that students need to cultivate for its own benefits and for general EFL acquisition, development and fluency. Given the fact that many students do not read extensively either on their own or as homework for their English classes, it is only logicalthat teachers should teach ER. Students who are shy, silent, less adroit in their speaking classes, and who lack substantial chance to use English outside class, are also likely to benefit from ER activities because of their motivation building qualities and for the opportunity ofsilent output.
