We previously reported that cholesterol-bearing pullulans (CHPs) formed hydrogelnanoparticles (nanogels) of ca. 30 nm diameter by self-assembly. CHP nanogels act as artificialmolecular chaperon and drug carriers for protein drugs. On the other hand, calcium phosphateis a biocompatible inorganic material and is applied as biomaterial for regenerative medicine.Here we describe on the synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrid nanoparticles using CHPnanogels and calcium phosphate. The CHP-calcium phosphate hybrid nanoparticles can beapplied to controlled-release and drug delivery systems for cells or bone defective parts. CHPnanogels and calcium phosphate were complexed by alternate addition of Ca(NO3)2 aq. and(NH4)2HPO4 aq. to CHP nanogel aq. (pH 11.5) at 25 ºC. In the CHP nanogel solution, finelydispersed amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) particles (30 nm diameter) were formed, whichwas observed by transmission electron microscopy.
