• The purpose of this paper is to show a connection with mass media and/or government and an unexpected discord in one NPO in Japan. In the field of Sport Sociology, several articles have been devoted to the study of volunteers for sport events. And importance of sport NPO is now widely accepted. However, little attention has been given to the cooperation with NPO, mass media, and government. In this case study, I focus on (1) the corporation with one NPO, government, and mass media in connection with "Tanbo Art" -picture with rice on rice field-, (2) unexpected discord in the NPO during the cooperation, and (3) power of mass media and government over the NPO.
