• Experimental work has been carried out to determine the aerodynamic forces acting on a conical tank in a simulated terrain using a multi-channel pressure scanning system. Results are presented that demonstrate the effects on the conical section of a conical tank of sectional aerodynamic forces in terms of aerodynamic force spectra and vertical correlation. Peaks corresponding to periodic vortex shedding are observed in the lift force spectra. A peak is also observed in the drag force spectra of the cone section whose frequencies are the same as those observed, for the lift spectra for the same section of the tank.
