To understand the current system and SPM transport in the head of Ariake Sea in winter, the numerical model based on the 3D hydrodynamic model, wave model and SPM transport model, were applied. The simulation results showed that the velocities in the surface layer are reduced in the laver farming ground, and inversely increased in the bottom layer of the ship path regions due to the relatively differences of hydraulic resistances. Wind induced currents and waves are also reduced in the laver farming ground area. Corresponding to these changes of velocities and waves, SPM concentration are also decreased in the laver farming ground area and increased in the ship pass regions.
