Previous investigations of the sound propagation in granular Materials (Liu et al.) stayed inconclusive as they yielded two "sound velocities" which differed by half an order of Magnitude. We explain possible mechanisms from which such different sound velocities could originate and present an experimental setup to identify the mechanisms and determine the "true" sound velocity. In this paper, we measured a sound speed in "one beads chain" and young modulus of a granular.
