Wake structures of virus type body with various shapes are investigated for different Reynolds number smaller than 300. The tested bodies are an icosahedron as a typical shape of a virus, bacillus shape similar to O-157 bacteria and egg shape body similar to a spermatozoon. A velocity field behind the body is measured by the PIV method. In comparison with flow patterns at Re=100, vortex structures are not recognized in the wake of the icosahedron and bacillus shape body, whereas large vortex structures are observed in the case of the egg shape body. Effect of Reynolds number on the size of vortex behind the body is observed. The size of vortices becomes smaller as Reynolds number decreases.
