Energy conservation is very important for resource conservation as well as anti-global warming. A fair wind way of 4 lanes with a cross sectional area of 154m^2 and two tunnels, each 5km long, are studied for road running energy conservation at a traffic flow of 3000veh./h and a large motor mixing ratio of 20%. Results show that the piston action effect of running cars may produce fair wind of approximately 7 to 9m/s, resulting in energy savings of 31% to 38% (a power consumption reduction of 2700 to 3300kW) compared with a 10km conventional open high way.
