Hydrodynamic forecast model has been developed for predicting horizontal and vertical pattern of current, temperature and salinity of Nomi bay, Kochi prefecture. Special attention was paid to re-produce the internal tide which gives significant effect on water exchange and dissolved oxygen depletion of the bay. A forecasting simulation during the summer season when internal tide became dominant was carried out. The simulation results were compared with the field measurement data obtained by the real time monitoring system installed on 3 buoys in the bay. The agreement between the simulation and the measurement showed that the accuracy within 1 degree of temperature and 1 psu of salinity in 24 hour forecasting was achieved so that the model developed in this study was evaluated as a feasible tool for hydrodynamic forecasting.
