The purpose of this study is to reinterpret the case of Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan. It has been pointed out that the case implied two miracles. The second is the famous fact that Helen Keller learned w-a-t-e-r. THe first one, which was actually denoted as "miracle" by Sullivan, has not been well-known. The first "miracle" was first pointed out by Takeuchi to be more important than the second. Through the detailed analyses of the available data, it was found that the first miracle produced significant effects on the second miracle. In this paper, the two miracles were analyzed and interpreted in terms of a somatic theory, mainly the one presented by Merleau-Ponty.
