The synchronous vacuum circuit breaker with three-independent-pole-operated permanent magnetic actuators is able to open and close the contact at the pre-determined point on wave for minimizing the switching surges. And the performances of synchronous vacuum circuit breakers mainly are affected by changes of operating conditions such as the control voltage, the ambient temperature, contact wear, ageing and other factors difficult to predict. In order to compensate for the influence of temperature, control voltage, ageing and other disturbances, guarantee that the operating times will remain stable in the long term, a high accurate position control of synchronous VCB is presented. And an adaptive fuzzy controller of controlled motion was developed to ensure the movable contact of the circuit breaker always follows the pre-defined optimal travel curves. And the vacuum circuit breaker's operating characteristics have been tested. The test results show that the position control can meet with the consistency of operating times requirements of IEC62271-302 for synchronous switching and the drifts of operating times are less than ±0.5ms.
