This paper aims to examine the SECI model in Nonaka's theory of organizational knowledge creation in a theoretical context of organization studies in the West. In so doing, TEAM linguistic theory has been utilized as a framework. In addition, the SECI model has been examined and compared with the literature of organization studies in the West. The analysis has revealed that the four linguistic meaning functions of the TEAM linguistic framework have been found in Nonaka's SECI model and the finding suggests that the theoretical premises of Nonaka's theory have been given a theoretical rationale by the TEAM linguistic theory. In addition, no literature deals with all the four modes of knowledge conversion in the West. It can be concluded that Nonaka's theory, and his SECI model in particular, may provide a comprehensive and integrative conceptual framework for organizational knowledge theory, even in the theoretical context of organization studies in the West.
