On July 12, 2008, Okmok volcano began to erupt after a lapse of 11 years. Ash plumes have been emitted from a new vent located close to the caldera center. Using PALSAR amplitude images acquired before and after the eruption, we could find the new volcanic vent near caldera center by means of differences of the backscattering intensity in PALSAR images. Interferogram generated using the DInSAR technique shows a deflation of the volcano caused by a co-eruptive magmatic activity. We estimated a deformation source beneath the caldera center, and interpreted it as an a shallow magma chamber.
