A new slider air-bearing design concept, which improves the damping effect for slider pitch 2^<nd> (P2) mode vibration with its unique trailing-pad shape, has been proposed, and slider fabrication trial has done. Frequency response of the slider vibration toward flying direction, which was measured by laser doppler vibrometer (LDV), clearly showed the effect of a "damping slider" on suppressing slider P2-mode vibration.
