Electrical discharge machining (EDM) has been widely used for the fabrication of precise metal molds. Recently, EDM finishing technology has remarkably progressed, and very fine surface roughness like mirror surface can be readily obtained. Therefore, EDMed surface is well expected to be applicable for a metal mold as it is in the near future. In this case, the life time of the metal mold depends on the surface characteristics of EDMed surface. In this study, the releasability of molded resin from EDMed surface is experimentally discussed. As a result, the releasability can be expected and controlled by the surface profile.
