The objective of this study is to improve and standardize washing process with respect to the number of defectives due to the oil contamination of the machining part. The proposed automatic ultrasonic washing system is designed in order to replace the current system, which is the tumbling washing, and finally to clean the oil from the surface of the part. For this new proposed system, the experiments have been designed to study the effects of the controolable factors on the developed ultrasonic washing machine. The proposed machine can be operated with RO water or Hydrocarbon solvent. It is evidently that the performance of the proposed machine with respect to the proportions of oil contamination is superior to the tumbling washing. Under the suggested operating conditions, the percentage of oil contamination is reduced from 12.8% to 0%. Furthermore, the ultrasonic washing machine has higher productivity and more standard procedure than the tumbling washing.
