The relationship among industries is important for economic forecasting and policy decision making. To investigate this relationship, input-output tables have been created and updated, and are well-known economic statistics. Japan also has her own input-output tables and they have been well studied for a long time. The input-output table shows transactions of goods and services among industries, and it consists of the gross amount of transactions between two industries. Hence, we know the spread effect of a given industry's growth because we can follow the transactions among industries. However, we cannot know how many firms are involved in transactions in the input-output tables. If we want to find the environment where innovations are facilitated, the preferred data is the number of transactions, not the gross amount of transactions because the number of firms directly means the extent of the competition in the transactions. I used data that includes seven million transactions and 60 thousands joint-applications for patent, and then created two kinds of matrix. The first type of matrix is for transactions, and the second one is for innovations. I found the novel fact that the flow of innovations is closely related to the flow of transactions.
