The Golden Shine Foundation was established in 2003 around Chinatown in Bangkok. Today, it is mainly funded through donations from the small and mediumsized Thai-Chinese business groups in Thailand, and local citizens. The Golden Shine Foundation provides an ethics education for visiting donors and members. As part of the ethics education, the donations have helped the foundation to set up a wide variety of great Chinese philosophers' mausoleums. Actually, their whole office (the first and second floors) is a very unique environment, and we can learn about ethics education in a very natural, emotional way. The Waiwatthananiwas is the Chinese charitable organization for seniors in Samutprakan. It was established by the local Chaozhou-Chinese bosses about 50 years ago and has 68 people living in the old people' s home. Today, it is funded through donations from the local Thai-Chinese business groups in Thailand. The mutual assistance relationship between the staff and seniors, and also the participation in the local community can be a starting point for Japanese nursing homes to reform. This paper considers the role of the small and medium-sized Japanese businesses in future Japanese local society, and also suggests that they should learn from the ethics educational activities of the Golden Shine Foundation and the Waiwatthananiwas.
