This paper looks for solutions of business problems through TRIZ techniques. Nowadays the business environment is changing very rapidly. TRIZ is a very useful tool against business environmental changes. American big airlines companies such as United, Continental, American and Northwest Airlines have a lot of business problems. These big airline companies' customer satisfaction levels are low. Their employees' productivity is mediocre. Every year their profits are rare. Losses are common. In particular the U.S. Government deregulated the airline industry. When President Cater signed the Airline Deregulation Act in 1978, allowing airlines to compete on price, frequency and service, many airlines rushed to adopt the hub-and-spoke network. These measures intensified airline companies' competition further. Southwest Airlines have been trying to find out comprehensive solutions with TRIZ techniques about these airlines industry's problems. This paper is to focus on the creative problem solutions which are facing big American airline companies. The empirical case study of Southwest Airlines is used to illustrate the application of TRIZ.
