For the generation of sound waves from the interaction of a disturbed flow with a shock wave, there were anciently lots of studies, which include the linearized analysis of Ribner(1954) for the interaction of a shear flow with a shock wave. In the present study, the author investigated the interaction between a planar moving shock and a two-dimensional circular vortex by a numerical method, in which the equations based on Shock Dynamics, focusing on the deformation of a shock front, are formulated by means of characteristic method, compared the obtained results with the numerical analysis of the compressible Euler equations, and finally considered the mechanism of the generation of secondary shock waves and entropy discontinuities observed by Naumann and Hennanns(1973).
