Jigoro Kano, the founder of Kodokan Judo, had complex for his body in childhood. In youth,he challenged to overcome his weak body by Jujutsu. Jujutsu is importantly Japanese physicalarts and roots of Judo. Kano learned Tenjinshinyoryu from Hachinosuke Fukuda and MasatomoIso, and studied Kitoryu from Konen Iikubo. However, there are no papers on differencebetween Kitoryu and Tenjinshinyoryu and how Kano introduced Jujutsu to Judo in the past.Consequently, we analyzed characteristic of these school's techniques and thought, and howKano developed these features in Judo. The results of my research are as follows:1. Tenjinshinyoryu was premised on fighting with armor, so this school made a point ofkeeping own "Hontai (well-balanced position)" and breaking opponent's balance.2. Kitoryu was premised on fighting with ordinary clothes, so a huge of situation wasmediated by founder. Consequently, Tenjinshinyoryu had 124 "kata" to win actual fight(kneeling position, standing position, being attacked by arms and so on). Almost of thesetechniques linked death or serious injury.3. Jujutsu took account of "Ki" and controlling of that. Ideal condition in fight was expressed"Fudochi" and "Fudoshin" by each school.4. Kano improved "Randori" to contribute to physical education by research for "Hontai" andbreaking opponent's balance in Kitoryu. Precious techniques of Jujutsu were introduced toJudo's "kata" ("Koshiki-no-kata" from Kitoryu and "Kime-no-kata" from Tenjinshinyoryu) .5. Kano valued thoughts of Jujutsu, and effort to introduce these to Judo without using theirkeywords (Ki, Fudochi, etc).
