Cadelles were reared using whole wheat flour and it was observed that at 30℃ and 88% r.h. it was not necessary to provide water to the adults to induce them to lay more eggs. However, at low humidity of 32% r. h. and 30℃, it was necessary to provide water. Giving dilute sugar solutions instead of water had no significant difference in the number of eggs deposited. Rearing cadelles in small vials in their last larval instar produced adults ranging in weight from 11.7-31.7 mg with most of them lying between 17.0-27.0 mg and dorsal thoracic width of 2.0-2.7 mm. The vial size used and the amount of food given during their last larval instar did not seem to alter the size of the emerging adults. It was observed that the size B vials used in the last larval instar which measured 2.3 cm in diameter and 4.8 cm deep could give adults of considerably uniform size for testing insecticides.
