• Thickness of the cardboard used here is around 0.5mm. Large space and big tools are not necessary for the cardboard handicraft, so it can be performed in ordinary lecture rooms. The handicraft was used for several lectures on introduction to manufacturing in our university. It was found to be effective to catch students' interests for manufacturing. In order to extend the capability of the cardboard handicraft, mechanical characteristics of the cardboard, such as 3-dimensional deforming ability, strength of bearing holes and screw holes, were examined. Through experiments and trial productions, it was found that some mechanical structures can be made with the card board.
