This paper deals with an investigation of a method which estimates the generation condition of cavitation by the measurement of cavitation noise. Cavitation noise consists of a pulse train with 1μsec rise time and 10μsec duration, and has almost ultrasonic characteristics. By utilizing this character, the frequency of wave height was measured, and the chart of accumulative wave height frequency was obtained. On this chart, the noise pattern due to the cloud cavitation on a propeller working in non-uniform flow was evidently discriminated from other cavitation noise patterns.
