• This paper is based upon the Coccinellid-material collected in Formosa mainly by Prof. T. SHIROZU, who was there as the head of the Expedition party of the Lepidopterological Society of Japan, during the period June to July in 1961, and partly by Dr. S. UENO of the National Science Museum (Tokyo), who travelled in Formosa for collecting insects in the same days. And some additional specimens availed to make more detailed descriptions of some new or little-known species were derived from the collection of the California Academy of Sciences (San Francisco) and also of the Entomological Laboratory, Ehime University (Matsuyama). Before going further, I wish to express my deepest appreciation to Prof. T. SHIROZU and Dr. S. UENO for the privillege of studying the material. And I am indebted to Prof. T. ISHIHARA for his kind guidance and constant encouragement to my work, and also to Dr. J. W. BEARDSLEY, Prof. M. CHUJO, Mr. S. HISAMATSU, Dr. K. KUROSA, Dr. H. B. LEECH and Mr. Y.
