We have developed a new high speed craft. The hull is a hybrid design which consists of a catamaran and fully submerged foils. Our main targets in designing this craft were to provide smooth operation and good response characteristics in rough seas for passengers' comfort, while providing a high degree of safety. In this paper, we have present a simulation study which predicts motion characteristics of the craft in longitudinal waves. Also, 1/16 scale model (1.8m) experiment were carried out in towing tank. The experiment results are used for the control system design and also for validation of the simulation study. The main results are as follows, (1) Results of the prediction are agree with results of the experiment on the motion characteristics. So this model of hydrodynamics are useful for simulation study of the high speed craft. (2) The hydrofoils work for damping of a vertical motion. The pitching and heaving amplitude are very small in head seas. (3) The angle of attack of hydrofoils are changed by orbital motions of wave and vertical motion of the craft. The change of the angle in following seas are larger than those in head seas are. Because, the phase of orbital motions and vertical motions are almost equivalent in following seas.
