• The resistance tests in shallow water are conducted at the towing tank of the Mitsubishi Nagasaki Experimental Tank by reducing water level of a tank and by use of four ship models. The test results are analyzed firstly by the blockage corrector of Taniguchi-Tamura, then the occurrence of shallow water effect is investigated. The effect appears to the dipping of a model and then to the wave resistance at about F_h≒0.5. Some consideration is given on the correction of the shallow water effect on wave resistance and on the blockage effect in shallow water with infinite water breadth.
