Compartive study was made about some simple models relating to the occurance of natural transition by adopting them to boundary layer calculation around ship fore-body at four different Reynolds number. The estimated starting position of natural transition by using each model was entirely different from each other at high Reynolds number and also seemed to be different from actual one. On the contrary, models of laminar flow instability indicated quite satisfactory results qualitatively. Furthermore, calculated transitional boundary layer by regarding neutral stability point of laminar flow as starting point of transition agreed very well with experimental results. Numerical investigation was also made about the influence of the change of laminar boundary layer region and Reynolds number on the flow field around ship fore-body. The results showed that unstable flow pattern at bilge part varies drastically by the above influence at comparatively low Reynolds number since turbulence intensity is smaller than that at high Reynolds number. And form factor for frictional resistance of ship fore-body is considered not to be influenced by the difference of Reynolds number under the condition that transition starts from the ship fore end at sufficiently large Reynolds number.
