Brackets used to fix the frame and beame of main structure of a ship's hull have been manufactured from plate material. In this report, angles were employed instead of plate brackets and a model test was carried out to determine the various stresses and deflections in a state where bracket corners were not fixed. No great stress concentration was noted. It was also found that strength equivalent to that of plate bracket could be obtained. In order to have the same strength with the same shape, use of plate bracket required slightly more weight. However, it is felt that if further study is made on the load actually applied to the fixed sits of angle and deflection preventinting material, it could be made lighter in weight.
