The purpose of this was to make an inclusive design of a control-display device. It is quite common to observe that not every one has the same ability to efficiently and correctly operate a control-display device. This implied that exiting control-display device does not meet unique needs of users with a wide variety of background. In this stand of view, we cannot overemphasize the importance of inclusive design of a control-display device. It is evident that information-processing strategies might be the risk factor of such above individual difference phenomenon that individuals with different backgrounds may make different time and errors in operating a control-display device. We propose indexical cues as solution to design a control-display device to meet unique needs of users with information-processing strategies. A2 (information processing strategy)×3 (indexical cues) design was adopted in this study. The experimental results in this study provide user interface designer an approach for designing a control-display device that can be operated safely and efficiently by operators with information-processing strategies.
