• The purpose of this paper is to consider the Owen's (Robert Owen) Theory of Surroundings on his Infant(early childhood)Education, from a view point of concrete methods in the New Institution for the Formation of Character. Robert Owen is famous for his social thought and his practice at New Institution for the Formation of Character. But his Infant Education theory bears essential part of his social thought and his theory of surroundings. As a result of this study, it has been clarified that both social surroundings and natural surroundings were important of his practice.
