• An experimental study of steel tube dampers as energy dissipating mechanism is reported in this paper. An estimation technique is developed for the parameters of the steel tube dampers dynamic characteristics. The accuracy of this approach was verified by comparison with the experimental data. Moreover, a base isolation system, which is combined with additional steel tube damping elements, is proposed. The efficiency of such a base isolation system was proved.
