The diagnosis od adenomyosis has so far been very difficult. The author found an better method of diagnosis, namely pelvic angiography. Serial pelvic angiographies of 312 cases were performed during 3 years. Of these 182 patients who underwent hysterectomy, 23 of them were diagnosed as adenomyosis by pelvic angiography, and 159 were not. The location and extent of adenomyosis in the 23 patients were in accord with the pathological findings. Three cases with adenomyosis failed to be diagnosed by pelvic angiography. Therefore, the diagnostic accuracy for adenomyosis by pelvic angiography was 98.4% (179/182), and indicated that pelvic angiography for the diagnosis of adenomyosis is very promising.
