An increasing number of small satellite and rocket missions are proposed for miscellaneous space applications, many of which assume the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) for positioning. Unlike terrestrial applications, those spaceborne platforms must adapt the high-speed and high-acceleration environment. Some of the space missions also require user-specific signal processing functions onboard. This paper describes a fully reconfigurable GPS receiver platform using Field-Programmable Logic Array (FPGA) and its adaptation for space and high-dynamics applications.
