Manganin is a trademarked name for an alloy of typically 86% copper, 12% manganese, and 2% nickel. Manganin sheet and wire is used in the manufacture of resistors, particularly ammeter shunts, because of its virtually zero temperature coefficients of resistance value and long term stability. In this paper the welding of Manganin sheet to other copper sheet using Magnetic Pulse welding Method was investigated (MPW). The experimental results show that the solid-state weld quality achievable for Manganin and Copper sheet joint by using a MPW device and in the most tested sample the welded zone is stronger than base metal (Cu). The observations of the optical microscope images was also shown that the continuous wavy transition layer which were formed in transition layer without any significant heat-affected zone (HAZ).
