In order to determine the vital reaction of a skin wound, observations were conducted using immuno-fluorescence and immuno-enzyme methods with anti-fibrin antibodies. The following results were obtained. 1. In the determination of the vital reaction in a skin wound by detecting the presence of fibrin within the wound, the immuno-fluorescence and immuno-enzyme methods using anti-fibrin antibody were outstanding means to identify a vital wound and a post-mortem wound. 2. Both methods deserved attention for their capacity to distinguish a vital wound from a post-mortem wound, even in a few days after injury. 3. In the experiment to leave the wound for 3 days in the atomosphere or in water, no typical post-mortem change was observed with the fibrin in the wound. 4. The immuno-fluorescence method was more applicable to determine the time after injury, since it offered advantages over the immuno-enzyme method in its simplicity and ease of observation.
