• 守屋謙二先生古稀記念論文集There are few Deva-type statues among existing more than twenty works done by Kaikei, a famous sculptor of Buddhist images In the Kamakura Period. However, we have recently found that Virupaksa, one of the Four Guardian Kings in the Kongobuji-temple in Mt. Koya, was made by Kaikei in his early ages. The present article discusses the Four Guardian Kings, inter alia Virupaksa.
