Today, the most important theme in education is to help students to have zest for living (monbusho,1998). I view zest for living as an ability to make career decisions. By administering Questionnaires to junior high school students, l investigated the correlations among any mirs of the scales of self-esteem and those of career decision making self-efficacy, CDMSE. The results showed there were strong correlations among them, especially among self-esteem in relation to family dynamics, academic Derformance and CDMSE. The study also revealed that emotional support and respect from family members, teachers and peers, when making decisions by themselves, empowers students and elves them a good self image which is imperative for active career decision making.
