This study was designed to evaluate the numbers of bacteria after washing hands in different waysunder the cooperation of total 183 nursing tudents of the first grade. The numbers of detected bacteriawere compared in the following four cases. [1] Before washing hands; [2] After washing hands withwater; [3] After washing hands with soap and water; [4] After washing hands with the antiseptic. The way to make a sample is to press hand palm on the surface of solid agar medium. The result was as follows: the number of bacteria detected after washing hands with soap was largerthan those detected before washing and after washing hands with the water. A number of bacteria weredetected on the forefinger and the middle finger both before washing and after washing hands with thewater. After washing hands with soap, many bacteria were detected on the forefinger, the middle finger,and the third finger. After washing hands with the antiseptic, many bacteria were detected on the thumb,and it is important to be careful of that.
