• 1) Factors affecting the reproducibility of thin-layer chromatography of lipids were discussed. 2) Among them, activity of adsorbent, temperature, chamber saturation, and sample quantity as a whole and/or as one lipid class exert considerable influence on the chromatogram. 3) Those effects were more pronounced on the chromatography of phospholipids than of simple lipids. 4) No evidence was presented that thin-layer chromatography itself alter lipids and/or fatty acid composition or cause the degradation of lipids.
