The following results were confirmed by measuring the area of pneumoencephalographic pictures of lateral ventricles, photography of lateral ventricles in cadaveric brains and volumetry of casts of lateral ventricles of cadaveric brains. 1. It was confirmed by measuring the area of pictures of lateral ventricles which might be regarded as approximately normal pneumoencephalographically that the area of left lateral ventricle is larger than that of right. However, no difference was observed according to sex, or age. 2. Photography of lateral ventricles in cadaveric brains of normal humans led to the same conclusion. 3. Volumetry of casts of lateral ventricles of cadaveric brain of normal human as well as measurement by means of ventriculography revealed that the volume of lateral ventricle tends to be larger on the left side than on the right and is significantly correlated with the area of longitudinal pneumoencephalographic picture of the chamber. 4. These findings suggested that lateral ventricle in normal humans may generally be larger on the left side than on the right.
