Part I. A simple method of hookworm eradication. During the period from September, 1960 to December, 1963, a method of hookworm eradication was tested 1143 inhabitants of 9 communities in Wago, Anancho, a retired village in Nagano Prefecture. All families in this village were treated with the Anthelmintic for hookworm once a year while 40 familiese whose members were positive in hookworm ova by fecal examination were treated four times in 1962. 1. Hookworm infection rate, 14.4% in the first year, was fallen to 1.9% during the four years control. 2. In the first year, Hookworm infection rate among the non-farmer was higher than among the farmer but this situation was reversed by the treatment of above 40 families. In, December, 1963, it reached to 0.0% in the non-farmer group. 3. In the three communities which located higher and have a colder climate than the other six, the infestation rate was 10.8% in September, 1960, and fell to 0.0% in December, 1963. Part II. Field experiment on the infection route of hookworm (A. duodenale). Observations were done upon feces taken from 28 inhabitants of 5 families, and on the hookworm larvae in the soil for studying the living state and infection route under the natural conditions, from March, 1962 to December, 1963. 1. The hookworm larvae was not observed in winter, appeared in Spring but usually decreased their member in summer. 2. In author's incidence the hookworm larvae was observed in the soil with the temperature over 15℃ and the humidity over 80%. 3. No relations was found between the species of vegetables cultivated in the field and the soil infestation of infective larvae. 4. Hookworm egg infection was not observed among farmers who worked in this experimental field.
