Experiments were carried out in 5 volunteers, without history of previous hookworm infection, to study the suitable infection routes of both species of hookworms to the human host. The larvae of Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus were placed on the skin of their forearms. The results were as follows. 1) The rates of penetration of larvae: 60 to 80 % in A.d. and 45 to 79 % in N.a. at 24℃-26℃. 2) Dermatitis by larvae: Small papules developed in 3 individuals to both species of hookworms. They complained of itching and pain. In other 2 there were no signs of penetration of the larvae applied. 3) There were neither subjective symptoms nor objective symptoms. 4) During 72-90 days after exposure larvae appeared in the stools of 3 of them. 5) The larvae of A. duodenale tended to show a high rate of invasion by way of the skin than those of N. americanus.
