204 cases suffered from auricular flutter or fibrillation complicated with various kinds of congestive cardiac failure were classified into the left, the bothsided and the right heart insufficiency. The frequency of auricular fibrillation or flutter found in the patients with the left auricular dilatation was larger than that in the patients with the right auricular dilatation. The frequency observed in the cases with bothsided auricular dilatation intermediated between former two. The mechanism of the auricular fibrillation or flutter seen in the patients with the left auricular dilatation was discussed. Nextly, the frequency of the auricular fibrillation and flutter was investigated according to the kinds of the underlying diseases. The auricular flutter was most often found in the valvular heart disease, whereas the auricular fibrillation was most repeatedly seen in so-called myocardial damege and arterial hypertension. There was impossible to find any conclusive relationship between the. electrocardiographic patterns and the types of the cardiac insufficiencies. Except for high blood pressure, it is safe to say that the finer the fibrillatory wave is, the lower the systolic blood pressure is. So far as the frequencies of the auricular fibrillation or flutter waves and the types of the cardiac insufficiencies are concerned, there can be found some correlations, for example, the cases with finer fibrillatory waves were found predominantly observed in the patients suffered fro me the marked right cardiac insufficiency. Percentually the auricular flutter was observed most often in the left cardiac insufficiency. Wide QRS was occasionally seen in the cases with fine fibrillation; the same finding was also observed in the patients suffered from auricular fibrillation complicated with premature beats. As the results of 21 cases at autopsy, the myocardial lesions found in the patients with auricular fibrillation were, as a rule, more severe than those in the patients with auricular flutter. Those cases without auricular dilatation at autopsy showed very commonly the pathological changes of coronary arteries. In this observation the total number of female exceeded that of male; the possible explanation about this point was discussed.
