• The serum protein changes in pregnancy, labour, puerperium and toxaemia were investigated by the method of electrophoresis. The following results were obtained. (1) Throughout pregnancy, the total serum proteins and albumin % fell, but the a and β. globulin% increased. Theγ globulin% remained unaltered. (2) In labour, the total serum proteins increased, but the ratio of every fractions remained unaltered. (3) In hyperemesis and hydrops gravidarum, the all changes that we observed had no statistical significance as compared with in normal pregnancy. (4) In nephropathia gravidarum, the total serum proteins, and the albumin % were lower, but the a globulin % were higher than in normal pregnancy. The electrophoretic patterns of the serum proteins, however, did not help us decide whether the case was serious or mild.
